Serving Up Summer
Let nature inspire an oh-so-cool look for your summertime table.
“Dining may tend to be more casual during the summer, but that doesn’t mean your tabletop can’t be dressed up a little,” says tablescape designer Michele Trzuskowski from T is for Table (4600 PGA Blvd., #105, Palm Beach Gardens, 561/799-9733). This pro dishes out the following tips.
Play with pattern: Bold patterns are perfect for summer. Use solid elements to temper strongly patterned linens, and incorporate complementary colors to unite disparate patterns.
Add texture: Choose wicker, grained woods and bubbled glass. Accent with shell- and stone-detailed accessories.
Pair placemats with tablecloths: An eye-catching tablecloth sets the stage for the entire tabletop, while placemats anchor and define each place setting.
Choose calming colors: Soft greens and blues pair perfectly with sandy beiges and creamy whites.
Favor organic forms: Choose thick glassware and free-formed ceramic dinnerware that looks and feels more relaxed.
